Welcome to my own little space on the internet! My name is Nicole Carman and I’m a mental health advocate and writer who is living with bipolar II disorder, depression and anxiety.
I’m extremely passionate about raising awareness of mental health topics, including general mental health, mental wellness, and mental illnesses. My husband and I live in the southern United States with our five cats and two parakeets. When I’m not trying to navigate through a depressive episode, I most enjoy writing, reading, and mental health advocacy.
I’ve been blogging since January of 2011 and it’s such a great outlet for me. My blog was originally a mom blog and later a lifestyle blog, but I decided to write exclusively about mental health after I was hospitalized during a mental health crisis in March of 2018.
I love working with brands and reviewing products, especially if they will benefit our mental health and well-being in some way. Some of the brands that I’ve had the pleasure of working with are Stouffer’s, Nestle, Nutrisystem, Purex, Covergirl, Nature’s Sleep, Hoover, Crest, Gorton’s Seafood, Almondina, The Organic Face, PrestoPhoto, and BeautyFrizz.
In September of 2018, I founded the Mental Health Awareness Project, which is a mental health advocacy initiative that strives to help educate the public about mental health and raise awareness of mental health issues by starting important conversations about mental health, mental wellness, and mental illnesses. You can connect with us on social media, at @OfficialMHAP!
I contributed a snippet for Ann-Marie D’Arcy-Sharpe’s post, “Having a Mental Illness Does Not Make Us A Risk To Others,” in August 2019.
In January 2019, Startup Plan-It recognized me as Featured Entrepreneur #46 out of 1,000!
I’ve been awarded the Sunshine Blogger Award, the Blogger Recognition Award, the Invaluable Blogger Award, the Flawesome Award, and the Versatile Blogger Award by my blogger friends. I’m so humbled by their kindness and generosity. Thank you all for your love and support!
I’m included on Amber’s list, “The Safe Space,” on her mental health blog, “Happily Having No Idea What I’m Doing”. I’m one of many people you can come to if you ever need to talk to someome.
